Curriculum
The general aim of our school is to recognise the individual qualities of each child and to develop them to his or her full potential. We help each child to foster an attitude of reverence and love for God and neighbour and to acquire the knowledge and skills relevant to our ever changing world.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum which endeavours to fulfil the requirements of the Education Acts for England. Numeracy and Literacy are taught daily. Religious Education is a core subject and timetabled accordingly. We follow the Diocesan programme for Sex Education based on a developmental approach including personal, health, social, moral and citizenship aspects. All subjects are taught in accordance with the National Curriculum guidelines and we adopt a mixture of single-subject teaching and topic approach. We have strong links with several secondary schools and outside agencies that provide staff with specialist skills in order to support and extend the children’s learning opportunities and development.

The Governors and staff of the school have developed and approved policies for all aspects of the curriculum and review these policies regularly.
All pupils are regularly assessed by their teachers and take part in National Tests as required. Parents are invited to termly meetings to discuss their child’s progress.
We follow the London Borough of Newham’s Code of Practice with regard to children with Special Educational Needs. We have a SENCO, (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) who works with the Class Teacher and Support Staff to identify children who have additional needs. Individual Education Plans will be drawn up to meet these needs and the SENCO will meet regularly with parents and any outside agencies involved with the child to discuss progress and development.
